The Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers offers membership to engineering professionals.  The membership has different categories depending on the individual’s educational qualifications and post-university/college engineering experience. 

Currently, the Institution’s membership stands at above 11,000 members (all grades). To register a member of the Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers scroll down to identify your respective category that you belong to:-

Honorary Fellow

This grade is awarded to persons honored for their distinguished and exceptional contribution/services to engineering and/or to the Institution.

Zimbabwean Engineer

Fellow

Progressive Grade: when a member has attained a superior position of responsibility. Any engineer who has served as a Member for more than five years and is over forty years of age can apply for the Fellow Member Grade..

Member

Holder of a University Degree in Engineering and a minimum of 3 years post-university engineering experience.

Technologist

Holder of a Quasi-Engineering or HND in Engineering and a minimum of 3 years post-university engineering experience.

Black engineers

Technician

Holder of a minimum educational qualification of a National Diploma who has gained at least 3 years post-college engineering experience.

Graduate Engineer

University Graduate who has not yet gained the necessary practical training and experience.

Graduate Technologist

University Graduate in Quasi-Engineering Degree/Diploma who has not yet gained the necessary practical training and experience.

Graduate Technician

Qualified Technician who has not yet gained the required practical experience.

Student

Person undertaking a course of study in an engineering field which will eventually qualify them for some other professional grades of membership are entitled to join the Institution as a Student.

Affiliate Organization

An organization which, by the nature of its works and services contributes to the advancement of engineering, science and technology.

Companion

A person honored by the Institution for his/her services and direct contributions to the development of Engineering and the engineering profession.
